Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market, Support Local
In light of Arizona's Governor announcing that vaccines are now available to those 16 and older, I'm sure everyone is excited to get out and about. We're looking for places to socialize, eat, and support our local businesses. Well, there is a one stop shopping experience that checks all of those boxes... The Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market!
Located off of Central Avenue and MacKinley just south of Roosevelt, this farmers market has been a staple of downtown living for many years. From meat to mochi, local organically grown vegetables to hand crafted soaps, you're bound to find local treasures you'll love. But this isn't just a grocery trip, it's a Saturday morning event.
I recommend meeting "Donna" first, the Pour Jo Coffee truck right next to the free parking. You'll find everything from a simple cup of Jo to chais and teas. You'll need the caffeine to begin your journey through the market. Need sustenance? Grab a sweet treat at Beignet Babe. Fluffy and full of flavor, this is the perfect companion to your cup of coffee. Options include traditional, lemon, mixed berry, and even a Cinnabon flavor filled with handmade cream cheese. Don't worry, you'll walk off those calories.
Being outdoors, this Market is very dog friendly. Ruff Life Dog Bones offers a variety of meat treats as well as CBD products. Available in a tincture or a sausage treat, their CBD products are especially good for our aging furry friends with arthritis.
For those with special dietary needs, you will not be left out. Sonoran Pasta Co carries an excellent gluten-free pasta in a variety of pasta shapes. This pasta is also vegan. Speaking of vegan, B Naked Chocolate has a chocolate dipped blonde macaroon that's to die for. Owner Sue Berliner, an endurance athlete, boasts desserts without the guilt as they are free of dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, and refined sugar.
The sense of community is strong at the Market, as is the sense of responsibility to the community. In addition to the local and environmentally friendly products you'll find there, you'll also find opportunities to give back. This Saturday, you can purchase a Local Farm Box For Friends In Need. These boxes are $20 and include local organic fruits and vegetables as well as dried and canned goods and are distributed to those in rural communities in and around Ajo, AZ.
If you're not quite ready to venture out, but want to support these local businesses, you can Shop the Market online! A team member will personally gather your order which can be picked up at a designated time of your choosing. Pickup is curbside, so no need to even get out of the car. Be sure to add a Farm Box For Friends to your order.
Hope to see you at the Market!
